Prices cant get too low since SSDs are 5-10x faster than HDDs. I would like to see 500GB to be priced same as 250GB is right now and that would be the dream for me. If u are shopping for an SSD then wait for Black friday and buy a couple.

Well, probably just the Evos since everyone and their mother (if their mother were geeks) recommends Samsung. I'd say safe alternatives to look at if they're cheaper are SanDisk (they're like the flash memory gods) and Kingston. I've heard alright things about Mushkin and Crucial if you're wanting at least something SSD wise. But then again, most of those brands are only like 10% cheaper at best.

its called supply and demand. 850 evos are like $20 over what they are usually priced at right now.

Yep, prices fell to the point where they started attracting more attention in the marketplace from people who previously did not consider an SSD to be an option.  Now the increased demand is propping up prices.  I'd expect prices to resume their decline fairly soon, but would not expect a return to the previous trend line - ie. things are starting to level off for the interim.

So for years SSD prices were falling till it hit afordable levels, but now after dipping they rose even. As I remeber them being cheaper in january.

What do you guys think can we hope for larger ssd's with lower price?

Most likely prices will drop next year as Samsung will be releasing their 6TB-16TB SSD's to the regular market. Right now they're available at an enterprise price, but again prices will drop. Just takes some patience and deal sniping through Newegg ;)
