Your CPU can utterly destroy just about anything on the consumer market, then double back around to destroy its children and its children's children. Stop browsing LTT. Go play Star Citizen while rendering 4K video.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I think you don't really understand how much money you have. While the 6700k is arguably the best gaming CPU right now, there's 0 reason to swap an almost as good 5930k for a 6700k.

Go grab some g-sync ultrawide panels, SLI Titan XP and some NVME 1tb SSD. Those are likely to be a better upgrade than changing your CPU.

Didn't you already answer your own question?

If you personally think the 5930k is the best CPU, why would you upgrade to the 2nd or 3rd best based on your opinion?

Nah, you're good. You could certainly handle a Titan XP if you want to blow the cash, though.

The 5930k is perfectly fine, but the fact of the matter is that with current games, the 6700k just pulls ahead in the majority of cases.

You'd need to run your 5930k in the 4.4 GHz to 4.5 GHz range to compete with the single threaded performance of a stock 6700k.

If you use other multi-thread optimized software, the 5930k was definitely the smarter choice.

This is literally becoming the most abused word on LTT.

Whether or not a CPU is "bottlenecking" a GPU depends on how you run your setup.  At low resolutions, sure a CPU can hold things up a little, but if you're running 1080p for 500 FPS, you're doing it wrong anyways.

Generally, right now the 6700K is the best performance gaming CPU, so if you want to live on the TOP of performance, 6700K has the best clockspeed and no games use more than 4 cores or 8 threads, but if you are gonna do any videoediting, stick with the 5930K, the upgrade is NOT worth it. However, a guy with so much money to spare as you do, propably can afford to swap out that 5930K if you want the best game performance. But generally, dont upgrade and go render som 4K footage while playing Withcer 3
