Just got a new dual channel 16GB kit of Kingston HyperX Fury RAM for my rig, installed it and went to use the XMP profile and... nothing. My motherboard supports it (I think) or it wouldn't have an XMP button in the bios, It's an Asus Z97-E. Whenever I click on XMP it just has "Disabled" and won't let me enable the profile. Not sure what I did wrong here, any ideas? Below is my full system specs.

If 1600 is the standard speed for your board, XMP may be disabled as it shows default values. Have you checked if your board has a BIOS update?

Hyper X Fury is noob RAM.

IIRC It sets automatically so there's no need for an XMP profile.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. Last update there was for it was 2016/03/25, and I recall updating to that. If it simply doesn't support if for some reason that's fine, I just found it weird that my mobo would have the feature but not use it. Whether the ram can't do it or something else.

Yeah, well I don't have a lot of money in the world to spend on RAM, this is good enough and leagues better than the single 8GB stick of 1333 I was using, lol.

You linked me to the 1600Mhz CAS 9 kit. 1333 and 1600 are standard for the board and will set automatically for you. There's nothing wrong with your board or RAM.

Oh okay, I don't know a whole lot about RAM timings, or memory in general but thanks for the help anyways.

That's why we're here. If you need help, please, do ask. As far as RAM timings, they stand for first, second, third, fourth words. Think of it as an assembly line, second needs the work from first for it's job. If you want more info, Wikipedia has a good breakdown for simplicity that explains it much better than I could.

TL:DR Don't worry with overclocked RAM since it only helps iGPU, e-peen, and synthetics.
