I am looking around at different PSU's for a new gaming build. First time building and was wandering if there is a recommended brand. I was looking at EVGA originally then came across PC Power and cooling liked it due to the color scheme of black and white would go well with my case and color scheme inside the case. For me performance and durability will win out over color I have just not heard of pc power and cooling like i have evga, corsair, thermaltake,  etc. I was wandering if they are any good and also what the recommended brands are for a gaming build Skylake processor 1070gpu etc. I did notice the PC power and cooling being almost double other brands in price but if high quality comes with a high price its one I am willing to pay.

In general, it's not a great idea to shop for PSUs based on brand, as they typically have a range of quality (EVGA included). It's best to look at individual units.

That said, there are some manufacturers (EVGA is not a manufacturer BTW, they only brand PSUs made by others) like Seasonic and Superflower that don't really make any bad units, so are normally a safe choice.

Have a look a things like the EVGA G2 550w, Corsair RMi or RMx 550w for the very high quality units. Things like the EVGA B2, Antec High Current Gamer, Seasonic S12II and Corsair CXM (white/grey label) are good options that are a bit cheaper.

If you have Corsair then I assume you have the Vengeance/new CXM series as well as the RMx and RMi. If you have EVGA then I assume you have the B2/GQ/GS/G2. Thermaltake has a few good options as well but I'm not overly fond of their business practices. Any of the PSUs I just listed should work fine for you.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
