How do I get a usb thumb drive to connect with a phone?

I have an android phone(6.0) with a usb type c 2.0 port and I don't know how to get a usb thumb drive to interface with it. I have tried a usb type c to usb type a female. Didn't work.

Well, yes. But I would like to use it with my phone when I don't have access to a computer, like if I'm on a trip. And yes I could bring a laptop. But I don't want it to get stolen.

I believe a USB OTG adapter will work for you.

Yeah, I tried that (replacing the micro usb with type c). No luck.

Did you try an OTG cable or a regular adapter, they are different.

Why did they have to ask their R&D department if it had otg. Shouldn't they know straight from the spec sheet? SOL for me then.

Yup, seems a bit dickish not to put it on the spec sheet.

They said that it had 5ghz&AC wifi on their spec sheet when I got it. I also went through some support agents to verify that. (Guess what. It doesn't. It only had 2.4 ghz even though the original did have 5 ghz.)

I guess you got to take the specs with a grain of salt when your dealing with super inexpensive phones. It was a learning experience tho.

Yeah... shouldn't have to be that way though. Most sub $200 laptops can accurately list their specs. And, even the $5 RPi 0 can.

I guess they feel that they can get away with it since they are a chinese phone manufacturer, most laptop manufacturers will probably get a shit storm.

I guess. Now I'm looking for a better phone. Or... a tablet wouldn't be so bad either...
