So recently I bought a Corsair AF120 quiet fan, I am pleased with its airflow as before I was using a stock Zalman Case fan that came with my case which had little air flow.

However this new corsair fan is really loud compared to my old zalman fan.

Any ideas why? I have a Gigabyte Motherboard do i have to re-calibrate system information viewer (SIV) again if so how do i do that?

Thanks

You can adjust the fan speed within the BIOS but also make sure that the fan headers are setup for PWM (4pin) control and DC Voltage control (3pin) respectively for the fans connected.

What speed are you running the fan at?

I don't think you can do this with a Gigabyte Motherboard, the only fan control options are available in Windows via the System Information Viewer (SIV) as far as i know.

About 800 rpm, the lowest I can get it to run via Gigabytes SIV app is about 750 rpm yet it is still considerably louder. Any ideas?

Sorry that its been ages since my last reply, it coincided well with a bunch of exams.

Gigabytes has a bit of a more cut down version but do have fan control in the BIOS, they also have a software called Easy Tune which allows for fan control. as for the RPM though if they are 3 pin fans depending on the starting voltage it may be getting close to the limit to how low you can run them at.
