Novice CableMod question

Hey!

 

Im a console peasant normally, but decided to do a little pc build project, and I need a couple of custom length cables. I thought it would be really easy to get this to a modular PSU, and initially the CableMod configurator seemed easy enough, but my PSU model was not listed. I have a Corsair CX650M, but the closest one I could find was CXM600, and I don't know if this is a completely different series or simply a different way of typing CX600M, or if the connectors are compatible. 

 

I e-mailed them and asked if the CXM600 was basically the same as CX650M and got a cryptic "Looking into it - thanks." reply more than a week ago and haven't heard from them since.

 

And I don't know if I'm googling correctly, but I can't seem to find any conclusive information regarding if the Corsair PSU connectors are all identical or if different models have different connectors.

 

Clarification from the pros would be much appreciated. ?

The cables on a CX650M and a CX600M are different. You'd have to get extensions to be 100% safe.

Currently there's two types of cables with Corsair (with a few exceptions). The Type-3 (which consist of multiples of platforms from different OEMs) and Type-4. Aside from the capacitors, all the pin-out of the on the Type-4 cables is the same as the Type-3 except for the 24-pin connector which has four extra v.sense wires. This is why you could used the Type-3 cables used in the HXi on the RMi that uses Type-4, as shown here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12484

 

Since both the CX*50M and CX430/500/600M are semi-modular, that extra four wires isn't an issue.
