Hi,

I've done a little research before I started this topic but I haven't found the case that would be the same as mine.

So, last night I moved my old PC to a new case.

Not my first PC disassembled and assembled again in my life so just so you know - I did it safely.

After that I turned on my PC to see how it works and if everything works fine (front usb panel etc.)

Everything went smoothly, but after I pushed a reset button to test it Windows started and I saw a BSOD with some error about not bootable device and the QR code.

I decided to turn ot off and on again and it didn't even show the BSOD anymore.

I was scared. The SSD is not showing up on the list of bootable devices but it's visible in BIOS Storage devices.

I tried to use the Windows USB to fix it.

Nothing helps.

I also used Ubuntu live CD to find if it sees the SSD.

EDIT: it is Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SATAIII MZ-75E250B

Plese, help me of you can :)

Cheers,

Jarek

UPDATE:

I installed windows on one of my old HDD but my SSD is still not showing up anywere  but in BIOS.

It also seems to cause some problems with either installlation or booting up installed system:

- when SSD is connected sometimes windows sill stop on the blue logo and spinning dots. It looks like it's blocking something... Anybody??

Could be that windows screwed it up. Have you tried to repair the bootdisk?

Had a similar problem recently when I upgraded a PC to the anniversary edition, what somehow messed up the bootdrive ( but this was possible related to the storage being in a raid setup). Sadly I could not solve it, and only working sollution was a clean install. Hope you have better luck with your problem.

I tried in AHCI as it was before and IDE.

Also what's weird every time I create new USB Installation of Windows 10 it brakes... so USB installation is not usable anymore.

I need to create a new USB stick with windows 10 again and again...

I tried 3 different USB sticks (7-8 GB).

So, I burned the ISO image to the DVD and it works of course because it cannot be messed as a closed device.

The only problem is, that the installation (it was the case on USB as well) stops at spinning circle and Blue logo.

It will not go further I guess...

Could it be because of the SSD?

Can the SSD blocks somehow the installation?

Maybe Windows wants to put some temporary files on it and it can't find it?

My HDD is also connected to the SATA3 port.

Maybe I should give up and install Windows on a new partition on the HDD and then from a Windows level try to access the SSD drive?

Sorry for a lot of questions but this is killing me :(

Cheers,

Jarek

Well you could try the SSD in a different PC an try to see if it shows up. However since you also mention your USB installation being bad all the time, the problem might come from the source material somehow bugging stuff.

Anyway if it doens't show up, maybe it isn't formatted in the proper way and is not seen because of that. If you run from HDD and have the SSD installed, do you see him under diskmangement? RMB Windows logo to go there and see if the disk shows up anywhere.

Unfortunately it doesn't show up.

It is visible in BIOS but not in Windows or Linux live CD/USB.

I tried different cables (I have only 3) and different ports.

There are some combinations when SSD and HDD are connected to SATA ports and SSD is not visible in BIOS and there are some when it is.

Ther is also a variant when SSD if connected, blocks Windows startup and It's spinning + Blue windows logo is displayed. Then I need to disconnect SSD or change ports / cabables. This is crazy!

I will try to connect it to a different PC or I'll buy some SATA to USB converter and try with my PC or laptop.

Cheers!

I just connected it to the HP laptop and it says that there is an error and suggest the data recovery etc.

I run the check disk test and it passed everything. So I assume that technically the SSD is ok but something's wrong with the system on it or something else.

Hi,

Yes, I tried. But I simply can't or don't know how to access this SSD. The only place where I can see my SSD is BIOS > Storage Devices.

Ps. Health of my SSD was great as I checked it fee days ago with Samsung Magician.

I know very little about any of this but is it possible that the Samsung Magician software caused a problem with the ssd? If it was working before but not afterwards ...

Love not hate

I don't think so. I didn't open Samsung Magician for last week or so. But when I last checked everything was perfect.

It's weird that I have no chance even to format it :/ and if it's connected to the SATA port, it prevents Windows to start on a different disk... same for restart or close the system. Like it's blocking something.

It's not visible but it's messing with the system anyway LOL.

You accidently put some sata ports on raid mode?

No, I didn't touch BIOS untill this problem occurred. Then I tried different modes buy not RAID.

Also, there is no way in my BIOS to sey different modes for each SATA port. I can just turn AHCI / IDE / RAID for all at once.

Well since you could run it on your laptop, go there to diskmanager and completly format the SSD. See if that helps on the laptop and use it as a storage disk to put some data on from the laptop. If that works try it back in your PC. If you can't get it to work on your laptop aswell, your SSD might be dead and you should RMA it. You still have waranty I think.

Thanks Gonio,

I will try today with an external case for hard drives and usb cables.

If that won't work, I will just send it to Samsung.

Yes it has only 11 months so even if it's only 1 year warranty (it says it's 5 years) I still have it.

Cheers,

Jarek
