How loud is the stock CPU cooler

Snakkey

I am getting a 6500, and I am debating whether I should get an aftermarket cpu cooler for noise. How many dB is the cooler at low and high fan speeds.

I have a i3-6100, I am pretty sure they use the same coolers, its pretty quiet as long as you have a good case.

The cpu already comes with the cooler. Listen to how loud it is for yourself before deciding on whether or not to replace it.

pretty quiet actually my brothers rig has a  6100  with the stock cooler and it runs nice and quiet very cool as well, no need for aftermarket on a locked cpu like the 6500.

Depends on case, but they are more quiet than you might think. People on forums tend to overreact to many things. One is how much noise stock coolers make.

Use it for awhile and get aftermarket if it really is loudest part in your rig.

That CPU is not exactly a heat monster.  Even if you do find the CPU cooler to be louder than desired the first thing I would consider is improving airflow through the chassis before going with an aftermarket cooler (no cooler works well if it is sitting in a pool of already hot air.)
