Hello Linus Tech Tips Community, I've just purchased my first PC ever and i'm super excited about it. I have my crappy Laptop but for actual Desktops I am noob; for the most part besides from what I learn from Linus videos lol. I was wondering if I could get some feedback and some questions/concerns answered from you much more informed and intellectual guys/gals! Here's My build:

CPU - Intel Core i5 6500 3.20Ghz Quad-Core

GPU - NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970

Storage - 1TB HDD

Memory - 8g DDR4 2133Mhz

OS - Windows 10 Pro

Wifi - Rosewill 802.11N N600 PCI Express wireless Adapter

Monitor - Asus VS228H-P 21.5ins

Power - Thermaltake 600w power supply

(I also bought a HDMI cable and a cool ass comfy chair lmao)

How well will my CPU perform? Since it's an i5 not i7.

How does it look to you all?

Did I do good? For everything here I didn't spend more than a 1000.

Anyway, I hope i can share some of my excitement and hype with you guy/gals!

It should perform great for AAA titles. That's a good i5. One point I'll make- eventually (soon,) you'll want another 8GB of RAM, and an SSD for booting and programs.

i did some research and i couldn't anything better for price unless i built from scratch and im no where near that level. Im just asking you guys cause there a few questions I had and to see what i could get to improve it. I am confident in my purchase for the most part.

No. I've never heard of that till now and i'm intrigued. That'll tell me how good or if something is worth it for a build?

so PCpartpicker (pcpartpicker.com) is a site used to build and check compatibility of computer parts
i'd take a look at it if i were you.

I am a little embarrassed now cause I really don't know what the motherboard is.

I haven't gotten the PC yet or the any of the piece beside one that came in like 2 days which shocked me today lmao.

What SSD would you recommend?

I will add more RAM at a future time hopefully soon.

r u just buying parts then putting it together ur self?

as far as SSD i am currently using a 240GB PNY CS1311 which is good, getting about 10s boot times, if u want to spend a little extra Samsung EVO's are really good too

Whats your budget for an ssd?

for 40-100 i would suggest: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rrvZxr/crucial-mx300-275gb-25-solid-state-drive-ct275mx300ssd1
100-300 : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/PBjWGX/sandisk-internal-hard-drive-sd8sb8u1t001122
other then that you should look at pcpp for one

No, The PC is already built beside for the wifi piece and i bought a better power supply.

I'll check those two out. You use them primary for just your OS? What else do you run from it?

yes, it will be so much faster, before when there were only 40gb and 64gb it was primary OS, now since they are much more inexpensive u can use it for a little more than just the OS u can install ur main programs so they are fast as well, the 1st SSD i got was a Crucial M4 120gb and it was 200.00 back in the day lol
