So guys yeah my question is if I should use a case with my galaxy s4. I never drop it but I have always used a case however I do put it in pockets where the back might get scrached. I want to know what you guys think and advice me... thanks very much :)

Oh and I'm asking this because I really miss the thinness of an uncased phone :P

Well it's the same reason people get car insurance, you might not crash but you always want to have that level of protection if the worst was to occur.  ;)

Spend $30-40 on a good case or spend over double that to get the screen replaced it you were to drop it.  :P

Really it's personal preference but I know that at least for the first year my phone hasn't gone anywhere without a case, but now that it's dying I couldn't really care less.

I do sometimes use a case on my Nexus 4 if im going to be riding to college because it could fall out my pocket, other than that I never use one and have never dropped a phone in my life.

It's a metaphorical cheap piece of plastic.  ^_^

At least you don't have to pay for the case every month I guess.

No point of getting a case if it's going to only protect the back of your phone. Make sure it has good drop protection for all four corners and the SCREEN. I've dropped my Lumia 620 several times now and still not physical damage on it main body because the back cover has good protection on all four corners. And do get a good screen protector just in case if the screen shatters, it won't fall into small pieces and cut you.

I've dropped my phones over the years, worst affected was a Dell Streak.....and due to the fact that the Streak wasn't a very popular model, I had a hard time finding a case for it. As of result of the drop, w/o a case to protect it, it broke. I've dropped my Ace, and my S3 as well, always on its side or corner, never on the glass side. Now, whenever I get a new phone, I'd be antsy about using it till I get a case to protect it....and my fave case makers are Casemate and Spigen. My Note 3 has two Spigen cases, one's a Neo Hybrid and the other's a SlimArmor. Waiting for Casemate to release one for the Note 3. I had a Casemate case for my S4, it protected it very nicely, dropped it from waist height and it landed on one of its corners, no physical damage to the phone at all.

Get a case to protect it, especially all around its sides, Otterbox is good, though a tad pricey. Ask those who have a HTC One or a 5S, and who have dropped theirs w/o a case to protect it because the bare phone feels so nice and slim, ask them if they'd wished they had gotten a case.

After having an accident with my Galaxy S3, I would definitely recommend buying a case for your S4. Dropping it on the back or screen side isn't going to break it, but if it lands on one of the corners, it's likely to ruin something.

I dropped my S3 on one of the corners and had the screen go out. Touch screen worked, but no picture showed up, I think it's close to a $200 USD replacement. I had dropped it before from higher up but it never landed directly on the corner. It was less than a 6 foot drop (onto tile, though.) and I had to get a new phone, since the new one was actually cheaper than getting the S3 replaced.

Yes, I highly recommend getting a case that can withstand a drop or two (and a screen protector!) ! I got one and I'm super careful with my phone. There was a time where I was using it on a bus and the driver slammed the brakes, sending my phone dropping and tumbling. Picked it up, nothing on the phone, but the case has a dent that would have otherwise been on my phone.

I'm waiting for Casemate to release a case similar to the one I'd gotten for my S4 previously. It has white translucent TPU to protect the side, and a transparent back cover to cover the back. I had that case on my S4 and dropped it from waist height, it landed on one of the corners and suffered no ill effects. Screen didn't power down, everything worked as new. Now, I have the Note 3, and while I'm waiting for the Casemate case, I've gotten two Spigen cases, a NeoHybrid (pic below) and a SlimArmor.....can't have enough protection is all I can say. Pardon the poor quality of the pic, it was taken with my Gear under poor lighting conditions.
