Bitfenix Prodigy-M Motherboard Orientation Mod

Epikas
post-41028-0-50521000-1385541259_thumb.j

Hello there everyone. Well I recently purchased the Bitfenix Prodigy-M case, but to my disappointment, the motherboard was inverted, and the airflow was flowing in the wrong direction. For some reason, the Bitfenix designers thought it would be a good idea to have cold air intake from the top, and have hot air exhaust out through the bottom. The results were terrible airflow, and heat dissipation. To fix this major problem, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and fix this great big problem.

The following pictures will guide you through this great adventure.

Last Pictures are of its current state.

Mock up build complete.

Had to relocated power supply as it was interfering with my graphics card.

Got to think of a better way to mount it rather than my ghetto method.

Any ideas would be thankful.

How many space can you move the psu to the front panel? I mean is there a gop between the psu and front panel a bit. might only be bit of space but anyhow.

Thanks you kind sire. You Hp case mod is astonishing.

I want to see it finished :P

And it has!!

Nicely done now I hope to do this myself for my next pc :)

By doing this, Ive dropped gpu temps by almost 10C and cpu temps by 5C.

Deffinatly worth it. I also like how empty the inside of the computer is. Nothing is restricting the airflow.

I might opt for 2 x 140mm fans with 120mm mounting holes for the bottom of the case rather than a single 230mm.

The Side panels still go on properly. No effort required.

Noop not at all, even wheb pushing my system to its limit, the side panel stays cold. There is a solid 1.5" of space from the exhaust to the side panel. And the 230mm pushes a fairly decent amount of air inside the system

All I used were a 15$ rivet tool, and a drill. I also used a vernier caliper for measurements.

Alright, so I recently did an upgrade to the system.

I changed the power supply to a corsair hx650 and mounted rubber spacers between the psu and front grill to reduce noise. Working perfectly right now and temps are looking real good.

Alright, so I did a few changes to the case, and now it performs much better than the stock layout.

I recommend all Prodigy-M users to do this. This will vastly improve temps with no drawbacks.

Hey dude! This is great! One more thing can you install SLI in that? If Yes, is there more room for a sound card?  :)

Depends on the length of your graphics card. Mine is too long so I had to relocate it to the bottom slot and raise the psu. If your gpu is short enough, you should be able to easily sli/xfire. As for sound card, it depends on your mother board layout. My sound card uses the pci 1x? Slot, the small one, about an inch long. That slot is located right above the bottom slot enabling me to use the sound card and graphics card at the same time.

I could add another graphics card, but it'll have to be a short one.

How hard is this to do? Could you post an in depth tutorial or something like that? Even a written one with pics would be great.

Took me about 30minutes to do. All you reall have to do is: remove rivets for motherboard tray and rear panel. Then just flip it around. And re-rivet everything back together.
