I just found a deal on HWS for an expresscard to pcie graphics card dock for $25. I was wondering if there was a way for me to use the laptop's display (I have a lenovo L420) while I have a gpu plugged in. I was thinking that I could get a usb adapter that would allow me to plug the graphics card back into my laptop. Not really sure and I am open to suggestions. Not 100% on the gpu yet, trying to look for good deals just so you know.

I doubt it will work. Solutions like the Core use Optimus/Enduro tech and pass through the iGPU. A hacked together expresscard PCI/e dock has no guarantee to do this.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
