I recommend:

running a monitoring software 9I like Rainmeter) to see if any one component is reaching max load, in which case the solution is to upgrade it (Probably your CPU if this is the issue)

running a malware/virus scan (Can't hurt) I recommend MalwareBytes

Check drive health (probably not an issue, but it can also be related to a near-full SSD)

the solution that will nearly always work is to re-install windows.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

if you re-installed windows it is most likely a hardware issue, in which case, the solution would be to replace/upgrade the parts.

If i had to guess, I'd say it was your CPU and motherboard, as both are quite old and not very powerful when it comes to running the latest and greatest.

It could be an issue with age, rather than the power of the components.

best thing to do is to use software to monitor its heat and performance levels while playing, based on that, replacements may be in order.
