Coding? Just make a game. Make a program. Practice is your best teacher. I'd say start with batch script (to learn the importance of order), but I'll let others tell you which languages to try.

actually you can't recommend a language without first knowing long term goals. I person wanting ti be a web developer wouldn't necessarily need to learn c or java but rather php, asp or maybe python with Django.
