This has been going on for a while, but I'm bored so I thought I'd ask about it.

When I power on my Nexus 6P 32GB (Android N), the flashlight fails to work. Tapping the icon in the status bar doesn't work, and saying "OK Google: Turn on flashlight" returns an error instead of the usual "Turning on flashlight".

I can work around the issue if I launch Camera (presumably doing something with control of the flash) and then quit the app again, after which the flashlight works as normal, turning on and off correctly both from the status bar and voice control. This lasts until I shut the device down, because when I do that the flashlight will fail to work upon booting the next time, etc.

Any ideas? I don't think it's a Nougat issue as it happened on Marshmallow as well. The phone is completely stock, not rooted or custom ROM'd. Does anyone else experience this, and if so how did they fix it (if they did)?

I am not a professional. I am not an expert. I am just a smartass. Don't try and blame me if you break something when acting upon my advice.
