So once again my school is giving me all their "crap" / unused stuff and I have inherited a server rack (maybe another one) They asked me if I wanted a server rack and I said yes. They have 2 server racks

- a brand new in box 19 inch deep http://www.ebay.com/itm/9U-Wall-Mount-IT-Server-Network-Cabinet-Rack-Enclosure-Glass-Door-Lock-18-Deep-/311480265470 (smiliar to the ebay one)

- and a used server rack which is slightly larger and is 60cm deep I think.

Which one should I take?

I will probably use it for a while and then sell it, Im planning on having a switch and a server (any reccomendations on used / cheap (under 100€) short depth servers)

I mgiht jsut a ditch a server and put in some of these Vesa mount computers.

I would take the deeper of the two racks since it will give you more options for fitting server equipment in there :)

The thing is I cant fit any servers in any of the 2 since they are meant for networking, If Im gonna sell it I think the new one is better.

Whoops, my mind converted the numbers wrong. Yah I would take the better of the two for now and sell it. If they weren't enclosed then you could put a server in them.

Edit: there are some small server chassis you can fit in there but they aren't tall so limited options there.

Yah, I just edited my post but you could do that definitely. Make a small PC with like a mini-ITX board or something fit in a not so deep server chassis.

The 18" one converts to ~450mm and the 60cm one is obviously 600mm - both 450 and 600 are standard depths you see from many manufacturers for wallmount racks. I have a 600mm deep rack as my main rack and it's fine, you just have to shop for short depth chassis. Norco makes the RPC-2304 and RPC-4308 (I have a 2304) and supermicro makes a whole bunch of short depth chassis models, from 9" deep to 23" deep. I picked up an 813MTQ which should fit in my rack but I haven't actually tried it yet.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

Ya, I'm in america, which means there are too many rules to allow that.

My native language is C++
