Anyone used it before on an OS drive to a new SSD or storage device before? How well does it work?

I just got my 1TB 850 evo in the mail, and I want to transfer my OS from my 840 pro 256GB pro to the 850 evo, I just want to know if anybody has used it and if they have had luck using it or any problems.

It seems to be pretty good, and I'd suggest you install it anyway as it is like a driver.

As long as your Target SSD is larger or the same size as your used SSD, it should be just fine.

I used it recently to get my laptop from an HDD to a smaller SSD. It was pretty simple to do if I recall.

I used to have a another method but it doesn't seem to work on Windows 10.

OS drive to OS drive like that should be fine. Old HDD to new SSD on the other hand, it's not advised. I had to do a clean installation for that because they messed some things up. :D

Can any of you tell me whether or not I can copy my (D:) drive to my old 840 pro, and have my PC recognize it as (D:) still?

You should be able to use Samsung Migration tool and Disk Manager to set its letter.

OK because I want to take my 256GB MX100 (D:) drive and copy it to my old 840 pro (that used to be (C:) and then make the 840 pro my (D:) drive, so that I can take my MX100 and wipe it, then put it in my mom's PC as her new OS drive.

In fact, I'd suggest setting your SSD's letter before transferring.

>Right click the windows icon and select "Disk Management"

>Right click the drive

>"Change drive letter and paths"

>"Change"

That Macrium Reflect one you told me to use, it worked super simple, pick the source drive, pick the new drive where you want the data, push go and 15 mins later it was done lol
