other parts are kinda lacking because of the blatant intel overpricing, but that's what capitalism gets you

Ok honestly my build was stupid and this is way better. I still think you should get a better thermal solution tho. The Hyper 212 is good, but your CPU is 140w.

yes but i'm not planning on overclocking much or at all

and the two corsair fans at the bottom are for the cooler

Honestly why would you buy a 980 Ti for the same price a 1080?

Because it has more CUDA cores, a lot more useful for video acceleration and rendering

I do want more than a 4 core

It's 4 cores 8 therads, but if still you want more, there's the 6800K with 6 cores 12 threads.

the 5820k is like 380 and is 6 cores 12 threads and it is very close in performance to the 6800k

I don't think 256 more CUDA cores will make a noticeable difference.

If you knew how video rendering and parallelization work, you'd know that 256 is enough to justify an older gen GPU. It makes a really big difference. That being said, the 980 Ti isn't bad at all, so I don't see where's the big deal with that

The one you picked out is 600 which is about 20 dollars cheaper than the 1080. Not a good deal at all.

P.S. and the "1080" thing

think with the way that linus speaks

i cant get a 6 core and a 1080 to fit in my build so...

First, learn what CUDA cores do and how they get used, then you'll know. And by the way, where's the proof that it's not a good deal? Bring facts to prove that I'm wrong, and I'll be the first one to say you were right.

I'm not saying the 980 Ti is a bad option, I'm saying that if you are buying it for 600$ then it is not worth it. I am fully aware that many softwares such as premiere pro take advantage of extra CUDA cores.

Ok, I now agree with both. The one I picked up was from PCPartPicker's GPUs list of 980 Tis ordered by clock speed, that's why this was my choice. Still, I've seen that the advantage in CUDA cores beat the architectural one in rendering and parallelized workflows (such as ray tracing), so even for 600$ I would have personally preferred the 980 Ti.
