Hi, guys.

 

I'm looking for the best "bang for your buck" drive out there. I want a drive that's at least 3TB, and it would be used for games and video storage. What would y'all recommend? I'd go for a 1TB WD Black. WD makes good drives and the WD Black has a 5 year warranty.

WD Blue 3TB is 5400RPM, not 7200.

RPM does not cause a drastic loss in performance as the platter densities and the controller do a great job of getting data.

I mean... it does matter a little. Considering he willing to spend that much, the WD Black is probably his best choice.

Unless OP is using programs that require intense read/writes, WD Blue would yield the best bang for buck. Gaming and video storage do not benefit from faster drives once loaded.

Well... that's true I suppose. Just thought he might be doing more intense stuff considering video storage. It's the OP's decision.

Go for a WD blue instead. The other blues are 5400RPM but the 1TB blue is the same as they black 1TB. But anything over 2TB go with a black. STAY away from greens too
