Wireless Intercom or Wired?

Hey. I'm looking for a solution so that people can call me from other rooms in the house whilst I'm in my office. Are there any decent solutions that effectively allow you to ring up the other handset internally?

I think there are cordless phones that have a push to talk feature. That might work.

If you want to actually set up for another phone to ring you, you'd probably have to use a PBX system and set up extensions.. kinda over complicated for a home setup imo unless thats REALLY what you want.

The easiest thing to do is to use IP phones (phones with ethernet ports), and any x86 machine can be the server. Your desk will also need one of these IP phones. Avoid wifi and cordless phones as it encourages theft.
