Hey guys, bit of a weird problem. I've been dealing with this for a couple months now. I upgraded from an FX6300 at the begging of the summer. I'm not sure if this is even a factor, but i'm covering all my bases. One day, i went to start it up, the fans spun up, and then it shut down again. It never got far enough to post, just fans for about a second. I unplugged everything, plug my monitor into the mobo, and everything worked fine. I started plugging things back in, and it was fine until the last couple fans (I have 7). I left the last couple unplugged and used it like that for awhile. After a bit i decided to plug it all in again, and it was okay for a month. Last night, when I went into my room, it was looping again. I've unplugged stuff, and it's doing the same thing. If you need more info ill be happy to supply. I think it might be the PSU, but do they randomly stop and start? It ran fine under load for awhile after the first time. Thanks!

550W for a OCd 290 is not that much...
It might very well be the PSU.
But my computer has had boot problems based on pluged in USB devices. So you could also try to unplug things like webcams or other USB accessories

I make Rainmeter things and other art :D

It might be the PSU. I had two defective AX860i units where the power supply had a faulty temperature sensor so the PSU fan wouldn't ramp up correctly, and the PSU would then bootloop because it was too hot to turn on (Thermal overload protection). Like your issue, the faulty units I had would work fine for random lengths of time, from 10 min to several days...but when it got stuck in a loop, the only way to get it out of it was to turn the PC off for like 5 min and wait for the PSU to cool down.

Corsair did replace the units though, sadly I went through four units (I had two separate PSUs, both had to be RMA'd twice before a working unit came around for both).
