Which GPU should I get?

Ok first my current specs

CPU: AMD FX 6300 With Stock Cooler

GPU: GTX 650

PSU: 400w Rosewill

RAM: 8GB DDR3

OS W10

Monitor: Crappy 720p HDTV

 

Ok, now my situation

I plan on upgrading my MB and CPU to Skylake, Kaby Lake, or Zen in the future, but right now my GPU is the big bottleneck

I also plan on upgrading to a 1080p monitor instead of 720p

 

Budget, $200-$300

Which GPU would you reccomend?

The GTX 1060 and RX 480 are looking good for 1080p.

If you can get a 1060, get one. If not, get a 970.

This, the 1060 kicks all kind of ass for value, same with the 480 but the 1060 performs a little better.

With the performance of the FX 6300 though, anything above an R9 380/380X is a stretch as it will be a significant bottleneck-its a mid range CPU that really can't handle high end GPU well (mainly due to age+IPC and clock speed).

I did say if not a 1060, a 970. Also with a 1060 it gives you room to upgrade in the future

Its the same with a GTX 970-even they get bottlenecked.
