Help! Windows 7 Wont Login!

I am troubleshooting my work's toughbook.

 

When booted to windows 7, it gets to the welcome screen, then flashes the screen black repeatedly with the loading circle on the cursor.

 

Same happens in safe mode, but slower.

 

Any ideas what would fix this other than reinstalling?

Pop in your repair disk or install disk and get into recovery... search for restore points and try to get to one of them.. This should work.

There are no restore points, I checked by spamming f8 during boot and hitting repair. (thank you windows 7 for not sucking)

Do you have a spare HDD lying around??

iirc the windows 7 install disk comes with some repair tools, have you tried those to at least get to the desktop?

Satrtup repair not working? Did it install some update last time during shutdown? Thats what usually gives me boot problems with Win7.

You didn't add a new HDD into the system when this started by any chance?

If you did, check the boot order in bios

Nope. I'm not even sure if this thing uses standard 2.5in drives
