pci-e 16x Pci-e riser

Hello I have a core p5 case and i recently bought a second gtx 970 and a z97s krait edition from msi. I love to have my gpus vertically mounted but changing the mb from a z97k from asus to this I don't know why but if i use the 16x pci-e riser cable my gpus don't work even with only one but if i put them directly in the motherboard everything works fine. I am using the original riser of Thermaltake. how can i solve this problem??

maybe try other Riser ?
