I've posted a few times before, but this time I think I'll have better luck with my build.

I'm considering getting a 5820k, 16gb of ram, and an x99 mobo all for $345.

This will leave me with $85.

With the $85, I'll buy a Hyper 212 evo, and an EVGA 500B psu.

I'll have $7 after this, but I'll get more cash on October 2 for my birthday.

I'll need a case, so can anyone recommend a good cheap case that will fit all that?

Storage - well uh, if I don't get enough cash, I think I'll just pull one from my laptop or a really old one from my desktop.

I'll need a wireless networking card but I'll find a way to wire Ethernet down here or use a cheaper USB one until I can afford a good one.

My main concern is the GPU. Now, this will take a while to get since I won't have much cash. I want to go with the GTX 1060, but by the time I have cash there might be something better so I'll look out for that.

I've got a question though - can I run my PC without a GPU? I could probably get it to post and all that, but seeing as (I think) the 5820k has no integrated GPU, what kind of GPU would I need?

My absolute necessities would be to a GPU that can run Windows 10, and I'd really really really like for the GPU to be able to run GTA:SA at 30fps or more.

What temporary GPU should I get?

But you won't be playing games till you find a good gpu. Maybe a 750ti is being sold on the cheap on ebay? Craigslist?

I only need one that can run Windows 10 and GTA:SA, what would you suggest for that much? 750 ti is like 100 dollars.

Where are you getting an i7-5820K with 4x4GB of memory and a compatible motherboard?

X99 cpu do not have an iGPU. You must have a discreet gpu.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

only san andreas? an integrated can run it. even AMD APU can do. SA is not a demanding game and getting such a powerful 5820k (which is mainly for eding) is a waste

Why 5820k though? x99 mobo and cpu are expensive and you can get 6600k or i7 6700k for cheaper

an i7 6700k on its own is as much as the deal hes getting on the 5820k, RAM, and motherboard.

Hyper 212 evo is a decent budget cooler, but you may consider a Cryorig H7 if you can fork over a few more bucks. slightly better performing and MUCH better looking as well as its vertically smaller, allowing it to fit in pretty much any case.

You should not run an X99 system (especially if you overclock) on such an inferior quality PSU. spend a few more bucks and get something more reliable.

A good case will depend on your motherboard form factor. something like EATX isn't universally accepted in all cases and is quite common on an X99 layout. Yes you will need a GPU as there is no dedicated graphics on an X99. Literally any GPU will do. you could probably find a decent unit used online somewhere.

You don't understand.... hes not paying full, brand new price lol. You're literally recommending that he pay MORE overall money to go Z170 rather than X99. It doesn't matter what his workload is, the X99 is cheaper and better.

That should power your system just fine. I'm unsure as to what sort of gaming experience you will be able to get on it, but it should be adequate assuming you aren't expecting max graphics or 60 fps. Its nowhere near as powerful as a GTX 1060, thats for sure... but this thing is only 30 bucks brand new, so it should be fine for you for now.

Would a Radeon HD 5770 XFX be better? There's one for $30 on my CL.

As you can see this is over budget. But a cheaper case won't fit an ATX motherboard (confirm its dimensions befare buying) so what I would recommend if you don't have the $12 is to run the computer without a case for the time being. That would allow you to get a better PSU which is kind of necessary given the 140W TDP CPU.

This would be the ideal EVGA unit for you. Top notch quality and enough wattage for any overclock you want to throw into the system. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qYTrxr/evga-power-supply-220g20550y1

However, it is a bit expensive...  if you're looking to cut costs this is still a decent quality unit, and falls pretty much in between the price area of your 500B and my recommended G2, but it isn't EVGA (they don't have a good unit in this price range). Not as good quality as the G2 unit from EVGA, but should still be good enough for your needs: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TgW9TW/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii520bronze
