Took off the heatsink to a laptop. It was to smart and shut off after 100c. I tried tho

You could cook an egg if you devised a bowl to put on top of the IHS, that'd be cool. Cook an egg and render a 3D scene at the same time!

Almost every modern CPU will throttle and even force a shutdown if there's no heat sink attached. While that's not guaranteed to keep it safe, it means you can't run it beyond it's temperature limits to 'cook it'.  You'll kill it in seconds or not kill it at all.

wierd how my only cpu that died off itself overheating was a Core2Dou ,

it had an internal short (and i had a bad powersupply as young lad , no safety) and it went chernobyll , literally , fire , smoke and what once was a CPU  

 

(after that i had a Phenom X4 9600 , still runs today , original mobo died of cap plague tho , still own the Fujisu case of that phenom pc , very nice case , many builds later and it still holds up )
