What is a good budget mic for under or around $100 for streaming? I am not knowledgeable on this subject. To be clear I'm not talking headsets. I actually don't like over the head sets as they give me headaches over time and it's hard finding good behind the head ones. I am talking free standing mic.

As always and feedback is appreciated.

A LOT of youtubers swear by the snowball from Blue. It's a USB mic, so you don't need to buy an external sound card for it either.  Honestly, those mic's sound pretty good when listening to some youtubers.

OK excellent, I'll see if anyone else suggests anything they personally are using to compare.

Why would you need an external sound card even if it wasn't usb? Almost every motherboard has microphone in for the rear i/o

I'm using the Blue Snowball ICE(there's slight variants on the same mic). Got it for $25 from a closing Radio Shack. I love it. Crystal clear

I personally use a Stagg MD-007 with custom stand. This with a M-Audio Fast Track external audio card. I don't know if you can even still buy these products. Have the microphone for 8-9 years or so. The audio card for at least 6. Still holds up though.

Because most (semi-pro) microphones won't use the 3,5mm jack. They mostly use an XLR if they aren't using USB. Plus if you want a condensator microphone for more frequencies you'll need 48V power supply. Fantoom supply it's called here. I haven't seen a motherboard support that.

I used to use the audio ports, but then I got a $15 USB. You have to have it 3 feet away for it not to sound like you are shoving it up your solid waste excretion area(if you know what I mean)

i like trains 🙂
