Air vs Liquid

So im working on a new system. I plan to do all RGB (I know it sounds retarted but if I can pull it off right it will look great (Im talking about a rainbow PC here)). It will have a all black theme with a NZXT HUE+ and some of those new corsair fans or something. My question is, should I air or watercool it? It will have 2 EVGA GTX 1080's (At some point probably), a MSI X99 Gaming Pro Carbon, and a I7 6800K. I know custom loops look great but is it worth the extra money? (Its between a custom loop and something from BeQuiet! (probably the Dark Rock Pro 3). It will also be in EVGA's new case so there will definitely be water cooling support.

 

Can anyone give me a price estimate of air vs water?

 

Overclocking is definitly a thing and silence is too

Just go with an aio. maybe an nzxt kraken x61 because you can change the cpu block led.

Well I already have a Raijintek triton and all that needs is different colored water. (had mine for 6 months now other than it making noises sometimes on boot. )

Custom loop does have it's benefits. Lower temps, higher OCs, and looks. But maintenance and cost is a large deterent. If you have the budget go for it. I personally would get a Titan XP instead and an AIO for your CPU. Something like this if you want RGB

Also I would probably get 1080 this year and one my senior year or something. I will need a car or something too, and 1 1080 will work for a while

If you are going to get another 1080 don't. I personally wouldn't buy into the Pascal series as they aren't really that good. I would wait for the 1080ti and Vega. But yes I do agree 4 cards look better then 1

Custom loops are a waste of time unless you really have the money and want to make one otherwise i would get a AIO Water Cooler, Air Coolers are ugly and louder, they also dont cool nearly as well as AIO Coolers, on Air my Pentium G3258 hits 90c and on an AIO Cooler it hits max 52c

If you plan to overclock, water cooler is a better choice, as air coolers are massive when you get the ones suitable for overclocking. I made the mistake of getting a 250W tdp cooler and it takes up 2 of my ram slots

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.
