Not sure if this is the best place to ask for info, or if im even allowed to here :P
im brand new to building a pc, and my experiences so far have been horrible to say the least.
im currently having issues with my pc build, after hours of assembly.
My case is the fractal define nano s, and after turning it on, the Blue LED on the front, flickers, and makes a light cracking sound when it does flicker.
im not sure if anyone else who has made a build with this case has had a similar issue, i looked around a bunch online and some suggest it may be the motherboard, or the PSU.
does anyone reccoment i rejiggle the parts around, or try disconnecting something? or if i should just send the mobo or psu back as faulty.
im extremly new to this and this has been extremly stressful, so far i removed the power LED (i think) and that didnt make a difference, and i made sure the powercables were pushed in tight, so i dont think thats an issue.

Is it the hdd indicator light that lights up when somehing is writing to your hdd, and the crackling sound may be your hdd.

You don't, it is normal for an hdd to make light crackling sounds.

for the commentor above i have the 2tb HDD WD black.
from the comments this sounds normal, it just worried me as a first time builder that i have done something wrong, its not an awful flickering or noise, but it is noticable and made me worry i had done something wrong.

No it won't remove the noise. The noise is a tiny arm moving back and forth on a tiny spinning disk. Data is stored on this disk so any time you need to load anything from it, it will make this noise. By having the OS on an SSD, you won't be accessing Windows files from the HDD, so it will make that noise less frequently. This noise is totally normal, and the light is designed to flash when data is being read.

I edit my posts a lot.

so its normal for it to make this noise when idle? it isnt a bad noise, and i did notice it flashing and clicking more when i was installing windows onto it :) just worried my HDD is fauly on arrival, when idle it just makes occasional clicks and flashes, is that normal too? sorry for repeated questions. im new to this and just want to make 100% sure. thanks :)

No, if your SSD is large enough, you can potentially put your OS and any games or software on the SSD. I have the same setup and only access my hard drive for music/tv shows/ movies. Therefore I don't hear the disk since I'm at that point listening or watching something! :)

Best of luck to your build. And asking questions is not looked down on, it's how you learn!

yeah thanks for the speedy replies, i unplugged the SATA cable and booted it up, its definetly the HDD, guess i was just so surprised by the noise and flashing, i had already had issues with ram, and connectors, ive had to send my monitor back for bad backlight bleed, and the cpu cooler will probably have to be reinstalled (too much thermal paste i think) to say the least this is a lot more stressful than i had intended. thinking i broke something or something just wont work, is extremly worrying. especially the ordeal i recently had trying to return a monitor. but thanks everyone for the replies, it was only simple but put my mind at ease, and saved me a ton of stress and most likely failed troubleshooting.
