Win 10 cant activate

I just downloaded win 10 home to my pc and entered the activation key, but now when i go into settings and then the activation tab it says that Windows isnt activated and when i try to activate it with the key it says that windows couldnt be activated.

does this mean that i will lose my winows copy or will it expire?

It means that it's not recognizing your key. That's all it means.....

If not then it won't work.

We don't have that information. Both correctness of the key and the question of it actually being a Windows 10 key are both valid.

If so then I'd say the best thing to do would be to contact them and tell them you have activation issues and provide proof of purchase.
