Just recently, every time I turn my pc on it loads the motherboard picture with the whole press f11 for boot option or delete for bios. I wait another few seconds and then it loads windows to type in my password. Why does this happen? I just want to go straight to the 1 second load to type in my password. For some reason it shows the POST screen, I think that is what it is called, and THEN it loads windows like it should off my SSD. It used to only take literally a second from pressing the power button to typing in my user password.

I read that this could be because my RAM is bad, but all 16GB seems to be working.

All my drivers are up to date, I'm pretty sure.

My boot option is the same as it has been before all this started happening.

I haven't added any new hardware, other than my monitor. Could it be that my monitor has old drivers? Do you update those the same way as all other pieces of hardware?

It does that for everyone, you could look in your bios to see if there's an option to skip the bios screen, though some motherboards might not support that.

It varies depending on the motherboard, so I can't say.

@TheKDub @gundamMC @ARikozuM I enabled fast boot, there was also another version of a fast boot that I will try next. The load time went down by maybe a second. Instead of the whole dragon thing and press delete for.. or press F11 for.. I got a clean msi logo.

However when I enabled this I noticed the on-board graphics for my 6700k when from 64m of shared memory to 32mb, what does this mean? Should it be at 64mb of shared memory? (I dont have a GPU installed yet)

Ok, so you have a msi mobo. There's a normal fast boot and a so-called msi fast boot. Well... The msi fast boot basically skips loading the keyboards and stuff and leave it until it's done w/ booting (I might be wrong about this...). For the msi logo, it's completely normal. If you don't want it, disable the fullscreen logo option.

There should be an option somewhere in the bios to change the shared memory of your integrated gpu. Not really sure about the option but it basically means that the iGPU shares the memory with your RAM.

Okay, thanks! I tried the two different fast boot options. I think the normal fast boot will be good enough for me. I tried the MSI fast boot option and then I noticed that I couldn’t get into my BIOS on start up anymore after I reset the machine. I tried delete, f8, f11 and f12 during start up and I could get back to the BIOS. So, I shorted this JBAT1 thing to reset my bios and went enabled the normal fast boot setting.

Is 10% usage of my 16GB of DDR4 memory normal for idling on desktop? (integrated GPU is set to the lowest shared memory setting atm, 32mb) How much of your memory is being used idea on desktop without anything running?

Thanks for the help though btw!

Don't use MSI Fast Boot. You'll need a program to enter the BIOS which wastes time.

10% is normal.

For msi fast boot you would need to use "go2bios" or download the fast boot driver (MSI called it a driver) to get in BIOS.

10% is normal. My ram (also 16G DDR4) would go up 10%-20% since I have tons of stuff running in the background XDD
