Budget Intel Gaming Rig

Thanks to the people on this forum I have created my what I think is final build for my new gaming rig. I am going to buy a workstation PC off my buddy for $50 that I plan on taking the hard drive, monitor, optical drive, and wifi adapter from. This rig is for my brother who has wanted to get into computer gaming for a long time. It needs to have similar gaming potential to my PC.

 

Please suggest any cost saving or performance boosting changes!

You have a Core i5 with a 960.

Your brother will have an i3 with an RX 460.  The 460 does outperform the 950, but not the 960.  Granted, the budget build for your brother isn't a bad build at all.  He'll be very happy with it and have no issue playing at 1080p.

What @kaiju_wars said, but do your brother a favour and throw in an ssd. A 5900rpm hdd is painful to use.

This is true, but you also can't beat free.

I get it is a bit of a stretch to say similar performance, but I meant strictly gaming no multi tasking and not at the same graphics as my PC.

Yeah might add a SSD as the boot drive

No.  Gaming wise, the GTX 960 does outperform the RX 460.  But again, it'll be an awesome experience either way.  The RX 460 is an amazing card, can't be beat for the price.
