Getting new Laptop, selling old for getting the money

Hey Guys!

I am currently using a MSI PE60-6QE in the 1TB HDD Version.

The laptop has all original stickers still on it and is in good shape, it was bought in February this year and had heattroubles and and not working hdd. Both was fixed after I send it in as DoA case. So the actual laptop usage startet in mid march and was used as university laptop with a few games like overwatch, league and world of warcraft in between.

What are you thinking I can get for it? New it was sold for 1.200€.
Warranty are 20 months left and the laptop should get the keyboard cleaned once, everything is fine and looks technical fine.

How much can I get for it probably?
I want to get a refurbished Elitebook 14" or 15" for it, with the money. Is that a good idea?

To be precise I am thinking of getting the following:
https://www.lapstore.de/a.php/shop/lapstore/lang/en/a/20176/kw/HP-Elitebook-8570w

Do you think I will be able to get that amount of money for my laptop?

I don't know why yould swap laptops. THe hp is slower and older.

Id probably get a dell m4800 or thinkpad w540. There normally a bit better.

For price, id be thinking around 700-1000€. Prices for used devices fall fast. Its also kinda tricky to sell a single device.

I don't need the gpu for example and want a battery life for 8 hours+ for office/eclipse usage. The HP can be used with extra battery packs to achieve it.

The last half year I would start my week, take the laptop with me, set it up and at end of week I would use it to drive back home.
The HP will be moved daily and I can work with a igpu.

I want to go back to Win 7.
I want a WWAN/UMTS Kit included, which is in some of the offers or can be put in afterwards.
I would get a PC that is more solid. The MSI is really great when you are not often moving it around and it did great for me, but I am not sure how it will do if moved daily or if someone knocks into it.

The w650 and m4800 are the equivalents? I will look into them, thank you!

Those laptops are mobile workstation are are thick and heavy with short battery life and made for doing cad work on the go. They have beefy gpu's and high power cpus

If you want a portable laptop that has a good battery life Id get something like a dell e6440 if you want used. If you want new, you can get a e5470.

With the e6440 you can have  97wh main battery, a 97wh slice battery and a 60wh battery that replace the optical drive.

http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=bsd&sku=451-11760

You can also get a thinkpad t440 or t460. With those you can swap the main battery when running and there is a second battery built in.

WIth the new dell's, there goin with the external battery brick.

But you think it is a downgrade and you can't recommend it?
How would you do it or stick to it and upgrade ssd, 8gb ram and looking for a battery pack my pe60?

If you have a desktop and don't need cpu or gpu power on the gpu, its fine. The keyboard is probably better and its much better built than the msi.

For gpu intensive work I have the following machine.  The MSI GTX 670 2GB at the moment, the 1070 when it finally comes.
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/g6rN6X

So if there is heavy workload I have a fallback machine to do it on.

The laptop will be basicly for writing in university and simple java/c(++)/assembler. I just don't want the slowest processor, because we have to have about 10 firefox tabs, 5 pdfs and 2 libre office calc/excel and 2-3 writer/word files to be open.

Yea that laptop will work great for that use. Id probably get a 14in if you want portability, unless you need a numberpad.

Here is a new system that you can also look at https://www.amazon.de/Dell-H27KV-Notebook-Core-i5-mehrfarbig/dp/B01CZLOTIK/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_12?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2XRW9F0XEYDYG175G2N2

Actually I would prefer to have a numberpad. It is not a must have, but when it is possible I like to take it, because I just got myself used to using the numpad, even for scrolling.

Well, there are some used laptop groups in germany/austria were you get 12 months of warranty, which I prefer over some private auction in ebay unless I can save a lot of money, but at the moment I am searching for your called dells. The Shop also would be a great choice for installing umts/more ram/ssds.
