hello.

 

i got a old PC that need new hardware, i got a i7 920 that use a FCLGA1366 socket, and gonna buy a new cpu the i7 6700k that use a lga1151 socket, (i also got the asus maximus VIII gene MOBO for the new PC)

 

the Question is does do cooler from my old cpu fit on the new one? i know that a cooler for a LGA1366 fit on a LGA1151 but dont know if the FCLGA1366 and a lga1366 is the same???

Yeah coolers are generally compatible on the Intel platforms going back to LGA775. 

 

However, sometimes there are clearance issues, particularly if components like voltage regulators are placed fairly tight.

 

How do you feel about building the system and finding out, buying a cooler locally or ordering it with overnight shipping if your old cooler doesn't work?

I'm in no rush and I don't use my old pc atm. So if it doesn't fit the old one then I will have to buy a new one, that's the tactics I'm going with

Can you post some photos?

Chances are that the cooler won't fit without a separate mounting kit..
