I just finished building a PC with X99 motherboard. It didn't post so i checked the CPU and when I pulled out the CPU what do I find? One of the CPU corners was bend. I bent it back and place it in the socket again. Surprisingly it is working even after being bent. No problems so far, but i still can't explain to myself how the CPU got bent. It was in perfect condition before placing it in the socket and it was seated perfectly. It looks like it got bend when closing the 2 socket levers. It passed all the stress test i did and looks like it's working fine. Can there be some problems with a bend CPU?

Sure there can, but if you tested the CPU and it works fine, I wouldn't worry about it much further.

Maybe run some CPU specific benchmarks like Cinebench R15 and the like.  As long as it's performing normal, you should be good.

Cinebench R15 shows exactly what the performance should be, but an AIDA64 memory & cache benchmark shows slightly higher L1, L2 & L3 latencies. Is it because of the bending, because my CPU's core and north bridge are not overclocked or it's completely normal?

what do you mean it was bent do you mean the heat spreader was bent.

No, I mean that one of the bottom of the CPU corners was bent.

Your L1, L2 & L3 are right where they should be.

OK thank you, because I thought all of the CPU's should have 0.9ns L1 latency (at least that's what I saw from most people, even my other PC with 6600K has 0.9ns L1 latency)

I have 1 more question - my RAM is 3200MHz, but Windows Task Manager shows it's running in 2133MHz. CPU-Z, AIDA64 and HWiNFO64 all show the correct speed (3200MHz). What may be causing that error?

Disregard what you see in the Task Manager.  It reports the stock memory speed for that platform, not actual speed.

OK, thank you for your answer. HWiNFO64 shows my RAM clock is 1600MHz (which is what it should be) and but shows 1600 = 24 x 66.7, but my bus is not 66.7MHz it's 100MHz. Is this also because of X99 platform?

That's your memory divider at work.  Everything is fine.

You can definitely improve your memory bandwidth (AIDA64) through some CPU cache overclocking and tightening up timings, but as it stands, your system looks normal.

I just got reply by the HWiNFO support. It seems I have disabled them accidentally because of a warning that if I leave them enabled they could cause problems. I enabled them and all work fine now.

I mean, if it's a new CPU you should just exchange it for one that has no issues even if it works fine. Unless you won the silicon lottery with a crazy good chip that might make it worth keeping, why not just get it replaced?

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

It's fairly new - I bought it 1 month ago. I contacted Intel Warranty Center and explained how it got bend -  the CPU was seated 100% perfectly in the socket and when I closed the 2 socket levers it got bend, I don't know how it happened and can't explain it to myself. They said it's user inflicted damage and depending on the bend they MIGHT be able to replace it under warranty, but they want a picture of the CPU and I'm too scared to pull it out of the socket because I might finish it. If I was 100% sure that they would replace it I was going to pull it right away and don't care at all, but what if I pull it out & it doesn't work anymore and they don't replace it? I'm just not risking it. The bend is not that light, the CPU is cracked a little on the place it got bent.

As for the silicon lottery I don't know if I won it. It can overclock to 4.2GHz with 1.23V Core Voltage and I didn't try to overclock it higher than that.

No, from Intel Warranty Center told me to take pictures of the CPU and send them, but I'm very scared to pull the CPU out of the socket. I asked them If it was enough to take a picture of the CPU while in the socket.

Hey I too have got my CPU bent out of nowhere. Like before placing it into the socket it was completely normal but after that it had somehow bent automatically. Should I try to bent it back and put it into the socket? Are their chances it will damage the motherboard too? It seriously got bent out of nowhere. Also @kosamchetoo I would like to know how much was ur CPU bent. Check out the pics of my g4560 and tell if ur CPU was bent a bit less harshly than this. Some help would be seriously appreciated.

I had actually accidentally done this to my G4560 jst about a week ago by misaligning the CPU to the socket (I know, stupid me)

I just thought, welp I most likely killed the CPU already, might as well try to bend it back and hope for the best, and miraculously, it was still alive and still working! A week later and no apparent issue, other than thermals jumping back an forth around 55-60c (not sure if that's normal)  but doesn't get hotter than that, and it's been 100% stable as well.
