Is it worth it?

I went to different micro center this time. One of the worker over there said i5 6500 and i5 6600k isn't much different so I should go with i5 6500 and save some money. Is 6600k worth like 70bucks more(cooler and z170 mobo)?

Depends on what you're doing. If you're just doing 60hz gaming then a 6500 and 6600k should perform pretty much the same. if you're doing high FPS gaming, multi GPU setups, or something harder than gaming (such as editing or streaming) then you're going to need all the CPU horsepower you can get.

That being said the 6600k IS worth it IF you don't mind overclocking and want the extra headroom. Also if you have the money for it. No sense breaking the bank for an OC chip if you're just gaming.

Only get the K chip if you want to OC. But mind you you spend more on Z mobo too so. Now the diff is $130.
