A small question I have

Go to solution Solved by Yoinkerman,

This.  Both the 2.4ghz and the 5gz should have their own wifi name and password.  Just delete the 2.4ghz one from your list of networks.  If for some reason they are both the same, log into your router and change one of them.

If the router has 2 separate connections then you just have to make sure that your PC is connected to the correct wireless network.  I doubt you have bridged the connections, so I don't know how else Windows would "combine" the connections,

I can't seem to find any answers to it using Google, so I will ask you guys :)

I have a router that initially created 2 separate connections, one of with was 2.4GHz and the other 5. My PC basically puts the 2 connections in to one and switches between the two whenever it wants to. My connection using the 5Ghz is much faster but the signal is worse, causing(I think) Windows to switch back to the 2.4 version of the same connection, instantly lagging everything. How can I either separate the connection or force it to always use the 5Ghz connection?

D-Link support has not helped me so far.

Thanks, Alex

It's a dual band router, it sends two signals, one at 5Ghz and one at 2.4Ghz. Your pc is designed to put the two connections into one (If I'm not mistaken), but it shouldn't switch randomly.

That's exactly what it is, but it switches when the connection is better, which is often since it's 2.4 and not 5, the actually internet however, becomes much slower.
