Case Fans

I am planning to build a cheap pc using integrated graphics. So I was wondering, is it possible to run an i3 6100 with no case fans, only a CPU cooler? Does it damage any parts?

It's possible but having at least one case fan would be a good idea to promote airflow through the case.

Right. Need to go back and get a 3pin to 4pin adapter.

This and also most of the cases come with at least one fan.

As long as there is clearance beside it you can overhang a 4 pin fan connectors on a 3 pin header, it will just run on DC voltage control instead of PWM:
