The Twin Frozr cooler is fine, just making sure it was the Founders Edition. As for the AIOs, rarely. I've seen 2 leak in the past year, one was insanely minor and didn't cause any harm and the other Corsair replaced his parts. NZXT has fantastic customer service along with Corsair, you could email both of them up and ask what are their policies on AIOs leaking.

The OP has a great looking build, and I wish him luck. There is one thing that I try to "preach", and I'm glad you mentioned it too. Customer Ander vice is HUGE. It's your budget and your money. Companies either great customer service make your experience better, and give you comfort knowing that issues will be resolved. MSI, NZXT, and Corsair (to name only a few) are really awesome. That's why they are popular and have many repetitive customers. Of any suggestions given here, making choices due to customer service is probably some of the best I've ever taken .

For the cooler look at the Scythe Fuma. Half the price, not those ugly brown fans and near indentical results for temps and sound. With 1 degree difference as margin I find that price way better. But yes the Noctua is performing better....

For the RAM as mentioned to make use of dual channel go 2x8. Would leave 2 slots for future 32, but honestly don't think you will need more then 16 for a long time.

Have build a few NZXT cases allthough not the 530, but their fans are overall very decent and good performing.

For the PSU 850 is overkill, something into the 500-650W range is more then enough.

The GPU is fine but don't take a founders edition. Any aftermarket cooled one is better. Other then that, whats your screen(s) gonna be?

Then the 1080 is worth it/ required. EVGA, MSI and Asus have several good options. If you find noise an important factor the MSI 1080 X or Z have overall a low sound lvl with still good cooling and results. But mentioned brands all have good options, so depends also on budget available/leftover.

Thanks everyone for your tips, basically the changes i made from your suggestions are as follow:

Exchanged the Noctua for a Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, mostly because i find the noctua ugly and i'm scared to go water cooled

Exchanged the 250gb Samsung SSD for a 500gb SSD, same model

Exchanged the 850 PSU to a 650, same model

i've been considering going with the NZXT H440 instead of the Phantom 530, but i think i care more about air flow than sound dampening

The benefits of dual-channel ram are not tangible in any game. Can you find benchmarks to back that up?

Compression benchmarks-

  • Thirteen seconds on WinRAR- a 2.9% improvement.

Media benchmarks-

  • 9 seconds transcoding on Handbrake- a 4.3% improvement.
  • 7 seconds rendering in Adobe Premiere Pro- a 3% improvement
  • About a whole frame extra in a preview in After Effects CS5. Somewhat tangible, but not to gamers.

Gaming benchmarks-

  • 0.4 seconds of loading time on Total War: Shogun 2- a 0.8% improvement.
  • 0.21 FPS in the same- a 0.4% improvement.

The largest improvement is in an After Effects preview with about a 6% increase in performance. Improvements in gaming benchmarks don't even hit 1%.
