Hello Peoples of LTT!

I am planning to build a File Server solution that is supposed to serve 2-4 computers over a gigabit LAN. Purpose is to hold any Files/Media and keep backups of the systems connected. The Enclosure i have is a WD one from 2010 that i used via Firewire 800 for a couple of years wich my MBP until i went back to Windows.

Now my question is: Would my old RAID enclsure that has eSATA be a good starting point if i attach it to an older core2duo desktop likely to run debian? Disk size i am thinking of would be two times 4TB in RAID 1.

Not sure if there is a speed difference between esata and sata. But other than that this should work fine.

Config RAID is not the fastest RAID solution (depending on the RAID card that is.) (BC everything is literally copied to an other drive) but it is the cheapest one.
