New PSU wattage confusion

racer243l

Hey guys,

I´m currently on picking my parts for a overhaul on my system. I will swap the case, case fans, CPU cooler and PSU.

Now I realized i could save some money taking a lower wattage PSU, going from 750w to 550w Corsair RMx- Series.

I personally think the RM550x should be enough, but after looking into a couple PSU calculators, I´m confused if it is enough, so I will ask you guys.

The system it should power is:

i7 6700k @4,6Ghz 1,35v cooled by a H115i with two ML140 fans

Asus Z170-A

16GB 3200Mhz RAM

Asus Strix 1080 OC (2088Mhz core clock, sometimes memory oc)

1 SSD and 1 HDD

Corsair 780T with 3x ML140 white LED fans instead of stock

Would 550 watts be enough?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X PBO GPU: Asus Strix RTX 3090 OC Mobo: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600Mhz CL17

CPU Cooler: Corsair H150i Capillex Storage: Samsung 980 Pro and 970 Evo 1TB Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Crucial MX300 525GB WD Black 2TB PSU: Corsair HX1000 Case: Corsair 500D SE RGB 6x LL120

550-600w is more than enough as long as you have no plans to go SLI in the future.

God no, I had SLI 670´s back in 2012 and that was a pain. I will stay high end single GPU for the next couple years. So thanks for confirming me :)
