So I have been having an issue with my laptop for sometime now where it will randomly restart during use and when not using it. I first thought it might be over heating and restarting. But I would be able to use for hours after it would restart. I tried cleaning it just incase but still didn't fix it.

Yesterday and today I noticed that it was completely shut off even though it was in sleep mode. So i figured that it just shut down like it has been doing. But apon trying to restart it it won't even completely boot up.  I can hit the power button and it starts the boot up but then it completely shuts down and won't even try to restart. I Tried unplugging it from the wall outlet  thinking it was the power adaptor but that wasn't it.

I have a Asus G75V that is about 4-5 years old. So I am not sure if its just the age of the laptop and it's just crapping out on me or whats going on. I am completely lost on this one any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that the battery crapped out

Even though we are assuming it isn't a heat issue. I think it would be worth verifying with something like realtemp. It would be a good starting place. Also, it may be wise to open it up and do a really good cleaning. Maybe check the thermal paste while there. I have seen that come up as a similar issue more than once.

We repaired one of these when I worked in a computer shop last year. This laptop has lot of issues.... It was sent in for restarting without reasons, same as yours. We thought it was graphics card chipset problem or motherboard problem. When our technician looked at it, he found nothing. We tried everything: new thermal paste, new power unit, new SSD, new ram , new install and a stress test that lasted days, but the problem keeps coming back. We googled, no solution. We have spent two weeks on it, at the end, we just give up.

Is your power light (LED) green? If so, it's probably not the powerline's problem.Check memories, remove one and left one on.

If you are unlucky, you may need to send your laptop to a repair shop

Can you do a "chkdsk" and use Malwarebytes?

Well now that it won't even boot up I can't run that. I will try taking it apart tomorrow and chack things out better.

Oops. I missed that part. I have been looking into it. I see so many fixes. Who knows which, if any will work for you. If I do find anything uber common, I will update. Otherwise, keep us posted.

The light is not green. It appears to be charging the battery. I am trying plugging it directly into an outlet and not a power strip. Maybe it could be something messed up with it. Trying to boot it up now fingers crossed it's something that simple.

Have you checked for a new battery or charger? Has your repair shop checked for blown capacitors or traces that are broken?

I did have to replace my power adaptor back when this problem started occurring. At first I thought that when that capped out on me that replacing that would fix it but it kept restarting after it was replaced.

What OS are you on and how old is the installation and drive? It sounds like a power delivery issue.

Running windows 7 and I believe it's the original installation and all hardware is original. So 4-5 years old. Right now this is the longest it has been up and running all night. And all it took was unplugging it from the power strip and plugging it directly into the wall.
