That depends on the type of hard drive it is. If it's an IDE drive, you might have a little more trouble than if it's a SATA drive. Also, if you want to boot from it, I wouldn't recommend it as there may be driver issues.

I can't use any of the program's though such as avast and Microsoft office.

Old stuff is on HDD and you want them to work with OS installed on SSD? Unfortunetly you need to reinstall all software since their folder connections refer to old locations. You can backup configs and savegames on some stuff and replace default files with them later.
