Easier to manage cables that way. Anyways, a Seasonic S12 would be better than the CX500M. A CX450M would be better than the CX500M as well.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

My system: PCPartPicker || For Corsair support tag @Corsair Josephor @Corsair Nick || My 5MT Legacy GT Wagon ||

The 1060 draws even less power than the 280. There's no need to upgrade your psu.

Your current psu is fine--why replace it?

Your current psu is enough because your system doesn't draw that much power.

Here's an example of power draw at load from the wall with an oc'ed 3960x and an r9 280: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/6573/gigabyte-radeon-r9-280-windforce-3gb-oc-video-card-review/index16.html

Keep in mind that the numbers shown are from the wall and are higher than how much power the components draw because of psu inefficiency and that it's more power hungry than a system with a 6700k.

Oc'ing can mean higher power draw but the cx500m has plenty of headroom for oc'ing.

The wattage pcpartpicker displays is usually not too far from the mark.
