Multimedia Desktop Build

Hi Guys,

I'm interested in recommendations for a desktop PC build for multimedia use so that I am able to get the most out of it in terms of the best speeds for rendering of multimedia/system processes as well as visual quality and storage. I would be grateful for your assistance.

Thanks in advance.

Budget?

What programs?

Thanks for your reply. There are no limits on my budget. I will be running Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Fuse and Audition. Basically all hardware demanding applications.

Are you doing any gaming?

What's your display set up?

Is this a professional thing? Do you have a 100% Adobe RGB 10-bit display?

And what's your actual budget?

Should definitely go X99 over Z170

GPU depends on previous things

Hi, thanks for your reply. I don't have any limits on my budget. I am looking for the best of the best. I will not be doing any gaming. I am going for a single 4k display setup for now with the 50 inch vizio P50-C1.

I have two thoughts. The first is a "prosumer" build. Very good performance.

The second is more of a professional workstation. Excellent performance with a Quadro gpu and ECC memory.

In the second build suggested storage is intended to be run as a RAID 1 array. Both motherboards do support M.2 4-lane ssd so one might consider using a high performance drive like a Samsung 950 Pro M.2 for boot and system.

The psu is oversize to allow for additional gpu to improve render performance if needed.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Well shit then, go for something like this, dunno if you have a NAS already, or how much storage you need

Motherboard has built in 10-gigabit, and I threw in the current top end fire pro card, it's a dual GPU card, but they're coming out with new ones shortly, you could also just go for a top end quadro card, if you absolutely need Cuda, openCL is generally more widely supported, just not as optimized for, or since you have no real budget, get a Firepro and a Quadro and just run them in the same system and get great OpenCL and Cuda performance

Also only 1 4k display? go for three giant ones, you'll need some kind of monitor arm for them though, review of the display here
http://www.pcmag.com/review/346074/dell-43-ultra-hd-4k-multi-client-monitor-p4317q

and I included a high end Dell professional monitor, it has built in firmware to split itself into 4 1080p displays for productivity, Mostly these use display port rather than a TV probably uses being HDMI 2.0, should make life easier

Case was just picked just because, If you want the best of the best in terms of cases check out a Caselabs case, fully customizable and made of aluminum
http://www.caselabs-store.com/

Here is their giant cabinet that will support pretty much everything and anything $659
http://www.caselabs-store.com/magnum-sth10/

now there is like even more high end parts, but I tried to keep it a little reasonable, because that's just what I do, everything should be 100% though
