Looking for a programming laptop

Hi, first topic here.

In about a year i will start my CS major and i was looking for a good laptop for programming.

This mean i need:

  • Fairly light
  • Excellent keyboard
  • Good performance for compiling code, etc.
  • Fairly resistant (It will be moved in my backpack all the time)
  • 14" screen or more
  • Good battery
  • under/around 1000 CAD$
  • I don't need any graphic card or gaming related stuff, i already have a very powerful PC at home for gaming.
  • (If you think i missed anything, please tell me)

I found the Lenovo t460p, but i wanted some feedback.

Also, maybe i should just wait and look again in a year time?

7) Depends on which model you get. I recommend the T series.

8) ThinkPad

Only get the T460p if:

1) You need lots of threads
2) You need better graphics
3) You need 2.5" SSD drives
4) You need to swap batteries

If you don't need those features, get the T460s

Thanks, actually i would like more threads and the swappable batteries.

I'm still open to suggestions, but the T460p really looks good.
