how do i record fps averages?

NZXT Cam software shows you while in-game

Fraps works well for me (and didn't drop my frames at all)

The way you do this, is you have a button that starts the benchmark (that you set in the software how long it should be) and at the end of the benchmark, it makes a couple files with the frame info (I think a .txt with the min, max and average and an Excel sheet with those + all fps at what point I think). Works really well.

If you just want to see how much FPS you have in a game, Fraps works too, however I prefer Steam's fps counter (that you can turn in Settings > In Game)
