The capacity and amount of writing doesn't necessarily wear out a HDD. Unlike Solid State Drives, HDDs don't have a finite amount of write cycles. What causes failures is the mechanical wear on the rotor and other moving parts and other mechanical components inside the drive or simply the age of parts such as the PCB. You may have TBs of data written to a drive in a daily basis and still have it up and running for many years. :)
