Hia all, I suddenly have a serious issue with my GPU and don't know what to do, or the possible cause.

Last night while I was watching T.V. my computer was running "Folding @ home"

Suddenly I heard my GPU fan going in overdrive, and both my monitors went black.

Had to force reboot my computer, because nothing works (black screens, can't even see what I'm i'm doing).

The moment in finished rebooting I immediately killed folding@home, and my gpu was working normal.

But it was late so I decided to check this up tomorrow.

The next morning I tried out staring a video game (Overwatch) to see what happens.

The second my GPU got some kind of load, it kills both my monitors and the fan goes 100%

Can't do jack (...) except a forced reboot.

My Hardware cofig:

MOBA: ROG MAXIMUS VIII Ranger (Chipset: Intel® Z170 Express)
CPU: I7 6700K 4,0GHz (4,2GHz Boost)

Power: 850W Supply
Mem: 2x 2TB HDD + 1x 125MB SSD

Please help :( right now all I can do is browse websites & watch videos.

RMA it. Seems like your card is a low bin card and not even stable at stock frequencies.

Reinstall drivers first to test that, using DDU to completely obliterate any older ones. If that doesn't work, increase the voltage being supplied to your GPU through MSI afterburner or any other overclocking program.

First update ur drivers, or even downgrade to see what happens if u r on the latest drivers. Similar issues were also reported with gtx 980 due to a driver issue. There are very little chances of a low binned GPU .or may be your power supply is causing this . Try replacing it .

A lot of people with Gigabyte G1 gaming and xtreme gaming are reporting the same on newegg. It's a pretty decent probability I would say.

He should try reinstalling drivers first though.

Check your drivers remove old ones and do a fresh install

if problem still exists then check if psu is working correctly by checking if the fan is spinning im assuming that its enough wattage to supply the PC.

If you still experience problems remove the gpu and test run overwatch on you igpu

if that doesent fix the problem then send it in.

That's what I said . Investigate into the driver first

I have used the DDU and installed the latest drivers from NVidea drivers webpage.

I can now play my games Overwatch and Black Dessert again xD

I forgot to mention before; I have installed the latest drivers, but didn't used the DDU before that (was always afraid that program it would remove more then I wished for :$)

And could some 1 explain to me what RMA is? :/

Ugh....think the panic also Blue screened my mind :P (I'm from the Netherlands, so RMA didn't even ring a bell for me)

I'm already using this GPU for roughly 3 months.

Edit: Did not worked the next day

:(

Had a similar issue. I use 980ti ... I completely uninstalled my utility and reinstalled it... Dont overclock anything. Just adjust your fan curves manually, let GPU Boost take care of the rest... When I tried to manually overclock my card i got to 1405mhz max... any higher = black screens... I left mine on stock "Gaming Mode" and GPU boost allowed it to go to 1516mhz stable with 75% Fan...

As far as you only being able to watch videos... uninstall your utility ( afterburner ect ) or set it to default, save exit and reboot

It worked for a day, and next day it's happening again. Except now it goes random. :(

I can play my games for barley a minute or I can finish a full 3 round on Overwatch (roughly 15-20 minutes).

I used MSI afterburner to keep track of what's happening, and you can see the graphs in the attachment what happened.
The moment the fan speed goes up, I started the game Overwatch. And on the end my monitors went black. (and I could still hear my game continue through the audio).

But the power and GPU usage are the most interesting numbers, they are way out of bounds. From ±75W to 38MegaWatt. And a GPU% of 4 Million.O.o

The Windows logs show nothing except "DistributedCOM" and "bowser" errors. Nothing screen related.

(and Kernel-Power from the forced reboots)

If you need more info, please tell me.
Right now I need help to put the finger to cause instead of simply RMA it, wana solve/find the cause it self as much as possible.

(it can take months before I get it back).

I have already contacted Gigabyte (and waiting for a reply).

And wana hear you guys thoughts or idea's.
